Sometimes, when sewing thin fabrics, an unpleasant situation occurs: the machine starts pulling the fabric into the needle plate. Our tips will help you avoid such a problem.
Surely, many were faced with the situation, how does the sewing machine begin to draw light, thin fabric into the needle plate? It's horrible! To prevent this from happening, we recommend that you use the needle plate for straight stitching if it comes with your sewing machine. The difference between this plate and the usual one is that it has a small round hole under the needle, which prevents it from getting inside while sewing fabric.
BUT! You cannot sew a zigzag stitch on these needle plates, as you will break the needle. Sewing is necessary only in the middle position of the needle!
If your machine does not have a straight-line needle plate, you can place a water-soluble stabilizer under the line, which will prevent the fabric from being pulled into the needle plate.
Please note that the water-soluble stabilizer is specifically designed for such operations, it is easily removed with water and does not leave marks on the fabric. When using paper for such purposes, it is likely to damage the canvas when removing the rest of the substrate.

To prevent the threads from tangling up at the beginning of the line, raise the foot, and pull the ends of the upper and lower threads behind it. Then place the fabric under the foot and lower it. Take the ends of the threads and pull them lightly. Sew a few stitches at low speed. This will prevent tangles at the beginning of the stitch. Next, sew as usual.
Also, the line can be started not on the main fabric, but on another material located close to the main one or with a slight approach under it. For example, you can put a small piece of stabilizer or paper and start the stitch: lay a few stitches, smoothly moving to the main fabric.
